The “Twoje Dziedzictwo” Foundation invites you to the Pearl – Temple of Art and Light for Devinez’s exhibition “Wanderings in the Abysses.” The public viewing and meeting with the artist will take place on August 7th and 8th from 2:00 PM to 6:00 PM, and the exhibition will be on view until the end of September 2026.
There are places we enter to see something. But there are also places that change the very way we see.
The Pearl is one of them. Its magical, almost unreal space is not merely a backdrop for art but becomes a part of it: it resonates with the images, enhances concentration, and opens up undiscovered worlds to the viewer.
The Pearl will soon host the exhibition “Wandering the Abysses,” presenting paintings by Devinez – an artist whose paintings lead us to what is hidden, undefined, and defying simple understanding.
Abyss doesn’t have to mean darkness alone. It can be a space of the unknown. A place where familiar shapes dissolve and reality loses its distinct contours. It can exist beyond us—as vastness, matter, cosmos—but also within our minds and souls: in memory, fear, desire, premonition, and dream.
Devinez’s paintings do not tell a literal story. They do not lead the viewer along a predetermined path or offer clear answers. Her paintings resemble fragments of a world consciously inaccessible to most of us. A world that lies just beyond, just beyond the thin line separating neighboring realities.
Unknown landscapes, organic structures, traces of processes whose beginnings and ends we cannot discern. From the darkness emerge forms suspended between matter and spirit, birth and decay, a living organism and boundless space.
This is painting, understanding of which requires abandoning a learned perspective, going beyond the norm.
One must examine the surface of the paintings, following their textures, their interpenetrating layers, the light piercing the darkness, to discover portals within them that lead to unexplored worlds. They must be allowed to unfold slowly, beyond the need for immediate understanding. Then they begin to reveal their power. They do not represent an abyss. They open it, freeing the viewer from the shackles of corporeality.
Each viewer can see something different in them: the interior of the earth, a distant galaxy, a wound, fog, the birth of an unknown life form, or a record of an emotion that, elusive, has never before been given a name. Abstraction here becomes not an escape from reality but a way to access its deeper layers—to what, though palpable, remains beyond the grasp of sight.
In the space of the Pearl, Devinez’s paintings will gain an additional dimension. The former temple, saved from destruction and transformed into a meeting place for art, light, and humanity, itself carries within itself the memory of loss and rebirth. Its stark walls, traces of time, and harmonious architecture enter into a silent dialogue with the painting.
The light moving through the building’s interior blurs the boundaries between the work and the space. The exhibition ceases to be merely a collection of works hung on the walls. It becomes an experience—a journey through successive states of concentration, emotion, and consciousness.
“Wandering the Abysses,” however, is not an invitation to passive viewing. It is a call to cross the threshold.
To enter a realm where not everything can be explained. To pause before what is alien yet familiar, unsettling yet mesmerizingly beautiful. To encounter a painting that does not end on the canvas but continues—in the viewer’s imagination and memory.
After all, we carry the deepest abysses within ourselves, just beyond the limits of rational cognition.
And perhaps art is one of the few ways to gaze into them without averting our gaze, even if they too begin to gaze deeply into us.
