The first high culture event in the new life of the Monastery!

The first in 80 years. This is also the first time in the 800-year history of the facility that a concert piano has visited the monastery. 🙂 Yes, according to our knowledge, there was a cabinet piano here after 1810, but comparing it to a Steinway-D concert piano is like comparing a single-family house to a palace! 🤩

On September 21st, during the Sunday concert of the “Chopin en Vacances” festival, pianists Yehuda Prokopowicz and Andrzej Wierciński filled the Monastery of Souls with the music of Fryderyk Chopin in the finest performances.

The monastery proved to be an excellent open-air musical venue – its ancient walls provided incredible acoustics, allowing the music to flow between the gates, windows, entrances, cloisters… all the way to the hearts of the audience, who filled the entire open-air “hall” and warmly welcomed the young musicians’ performance.

The festival, run by the “Ziemia Dobrzyńska” foundation, was invited to the monastery by us – the Your Heritage (Twoje Dziedzictwo) Foundation, the owner and manager of the monastery. The costs of artist salaries, promotion, and other organisational expenses were covered half by “Ziemia Dobrzyńska” thanks to a grant received from the Institute of Music and Dance working under of the Ministry of Culture and National Heritage of Poland, and the other half by Your Heritage from the Foundation’s own funds. Our partner, the Municipality and City of Nowogrodziec, assisted us by providing chairs, benches, accommodation for the “Ziemia Dobrzyńska” representatives and the pianist, as well as a delicious meal before the concert. 😃 Special thanks to the members of Your Heritage Club for transporting the borrowed benches and chairs, and building the stage – Celestyna, Bogdan, Wojtek! 💪🏻

And our deepest thanks to the monastery audience! This and every subsequent event is a celebration of yours! Thank you!

How did you like the inauguration of the monastery’s cultural life?
