On May 2-3, 2025, we invite you to the Temple of Art and Light for the collective exhibition “Feminine Energy”!
The artist who inspired the idea of an exhibition on this topic, and whose works will be available for viewing, is Cat Félix Machado. Cat will come to us especially from her native Portugal to present her collection of paintings from the “Sanctum Sanctorum Est” series and the “It is only natural” series at the Pearl. Do you want to learn more about her?

Cat Félix Machado | 1992
“I am a painter, my practice is a reflection of her fascination with natural environments and their relationship with socio-political development throughout history. Most of my work displays a personal view on political, social and religious issues. Through the creation of worlds where nature always has the loudest voice, my painting begins and ends in the landscape”.

“The musical and conceptual component of my artistic work tends to vary in each project or exhibition. My aim is to explore other ways to express my message, offering different experiences in each of them. As an artist who seeks much of my inspiration in the mysteries that music provides, I bring an instrument with three strings and a bow to every exhibition to complete my vision. For this exhibition I will be accompanied by the musician André Pedroso Rocha, who brings a more intimate aspect of music where he explores his thoughts and life stories”.

“My collection of paintings “Sanctum Sanctorum Est”, presents a vision regarding the oppression of women throughout history in all religions. These works highlight the inequalities experienced by women to this day, highlighting the eternal strength of faith and the diversity of interpretations and impact that the word belief has on people’s lives.
To support my paintings, Douglas Norton composed a soundtrack of ambient music that will be played in the exhibition. Inspired by the abstract spaces created through other artistic mediums, he has collaborated with me on numerous occasions. Interpreting the environments and feelings of my works, his goal is to remove the edge of the paintings, allowing the world of the art to bleed out into the space around the frame, engulfing the viewer within this reality”.
