We have happily reached the end of 2024. Soon we will face the challenges and opportunities that 2025 will throw at us. It was a good year. Thank you for being with us!
Two completed construction scopes in the project of rebuilding the defensive monastery in Nowogrodziec “The Monastery of Souls” changed the face of the southwestern part of the buildings. We would like to thank two institutions for the financial support provided to us: the Ministry of Culture and National Heritage of Poland and the Lower Silesian Voivodeship Conservator of Monuments.
Thanks to the project of mgr. arch. Juliusz Marcinowski, we obtained permission from WUOZ to rebuild the roofs in the gate part of the Monastery. This is a very important document that determines the future of the entire reconstruction.
The Temple of Art and Light “the Pearl” got the boundaries of the external area for investment in its immediate surroundings, which should co-create this space and serve its increasingly numerous, wonderful audience. It will also be a positive change for Żeliszów, when the former potato field opposite the school and stadium will no longer haunt us.
The facility has regained its portal, or more precisely, it has received a replica of a stolen sandstone portal, the historical texture of which was personally worked on by a friend of the Pearl reconstruction project, local activist and enthusiast Tadeusz Łasica. Thank you!
The second, huge change for the Pearl was the progress in reconstructing the door joinery. The Marshal’s Office of the Lower Silesian Voivodeship provided a subsidy that allowed for the faithful reconstruction of the main door leading through the Pearl Tower, along with the construction of a fanlight according to the design of engineer Thinloth Korwin-Szymanowska. As part of this action, it was also possible to restore the door leading from the Pearl to the cemetery. These doors will serve as the entrance to the facility for people with special mobility needs starting next year.
And while we are on the subject of the Pearl Cemetery – this year we managed to extract a dozen or so graves from the ground and greenery, the existence of which was evidenced only by the supposed layout of the cemetery and here and there small mounds of earth. Searching for more is an important topic for next year.
The preparation of the construction front in the Monastery was undertaken by volunteers from the Your Heritage Club. Thank you! Hand in hand we will bring life back to the Monastery!
But our wonderful Club is not only operating at the Monastery. This year the Club also supported the Pearl by further rebuilding the sandstone floor, transporting the pianoforte and work related to fencing the Pearl.
We are also glad that so many of you visited the Pearl and the Monastery during the open days, and during this year’s concerts and exhibitions. What would the cultural arena be without you – the most wonderful audience!
Special thanks to our general contractor, who undertook the complicated, historic construction issues that we implemented this year – the “FTD Phoenix” construction company from Żary. And to the “PixelMania” group for another year of fruitful cooperation on the international cosplay event, held in both of our facilities.
