Day of the patron saint of Nowogrodziec

On Sunday, our beautiful defensive Monastery was full of life again!

At the invitation of our partner, the Municipality and City of Nowogrodziec, we took part in events organised on the occasion of the day of the patron saint of Nowogrodziec – Hedwig of Silesia. She is not only the patron saint of the city, but also the founder of the Monastery. It is hard to imagine that our small fortress would not be part of this event. 🙂

The first point of the day’s program was a tour of the Monastery with a historian and regionalist – Dariusz Gołębiewski. For the extremely numerous guests, the gates of the Monastery were opened by representatives of the Your Heritage Foundation – the chairwoman of the board of founders Thinloth Korwin-Szymanowska, and the spokesman and strategic manager of the Foundation – Wilk Korwin-Szymanowski.

Due to the ongoing construction works of the second stage of reconstruction, the area in which the tour moved had to be very limited. Despite this, our guests spent almost an hour in the Monastery, listening to its turbulent fate throughout history – six hundred years of rule by the Magdalene Order and another 200 years when its buildings served various other functions, until they ceased to serve any and the Monastery fell into disfavour.

Finally, visitors could hear about the ongoing reconstruction, social management of monuments and plans for the future of the Monastery, and those willing supported the reconstruction with donations.

We would like to thank our wonderful guests for visiting, and the City of Nowogrodziec for inviting us to co-create this event. 😊
